❄️ Day 11: Helicopter Spins and Snack Machine Coaches

If you like your drama with a side of snow and a dash of Michael Jackson, today was your day. We had "Blade Angels" soaring, bobsleds burning, and a curling rink that felt just a little bit cursed.

🥌 Curling: A Rough Rub of the Green

It was a "paper trail" kind of day, and not the good kind. They "papered" the rocks last night—basically sanding them down to refresh the surface—and it seems to have turned the ice into a total puzzle for Team USA.

  • The Women: Faced off against a tough Italy squad and just couldn't find the line, taking a tough loss.

  • The Men: Went up against China and struggled to adjust to the new "bite" of the stones, falling in a frustrating match.

  • The Verdict: Hopefully, the girls and guys can get the "feel" back tomorrow!

🎿 Nordic Combined: The Norwegian Engine

The "Large Hill/10km" is basically a triathlon for skiers, and as usual, the Norwegians have a sixth gear the rest of the world is still looking for.

  • The Results: 🥇 Jens Lurås Oftebro (Norway) was a monster on the skis to take Gold. 🥈 Johannes Lamparter (Austria) grabbed Silver, and 🥉 Ilkka Herola (Finland) took Bronze.

  • Team USA: Our best finisher was Niklas Malacinski, who put in a gritty performance to finish 22nd.

🚀 Men’s Freeski Big Air: The Mac Attack

The Aerials might have been delayed by the weather, but the Big Air boys decided to send it anyway!

  • The Silver Lining: Team USA’s Mac Forehand was pulling tricks that made him look like a human helicopter. He stomped a massive switch triple cork 1980 that was pure art.

  • The Podium: He just barely got edged out on style points by Norway’s Tormod Frostad, who took the Gold. Mac walked away with a well-earned Silver, and Matej Svancer (Austria) took the Bronze.

⛸️ Speed Skating: The Pursuit of Excellence

Team USA was hunting for hardware at the Speed Skating Oval, and it was a bit of a "bittersweet" day on the blades.

  • The Men: We had the lead in the final against Italy, but the home crowd literally roared the Italians across the finish line. 🥇 Italy took Gold, but Team USA (Ethan Cepuran, Casey Dawson, Emery Lehman) should be proud of a phenomenal Silver. 🥉 China took the Bronze.

  • The Women: This was a tough watch. Our third skater struggled to keep the pace in the bronze medal match, and Japan pulled away to take the medal. 🥇 Canada defended their title for Gold, and 🥈 Netherlands took Silver. USA finished 4th.

🛷 Two-Man Bobsled: The German Sweep

It’s Germany’s world, we’re just sliding in it. They held onto the top three spots from start to finish.

  • The Podium: 🥇 Johannes Lochner, 🥈 Francesco Friedrich, 🥉 Adam Ammour.

  • The "Almost" Moment: Team USA’s Frank Del Duca gave it everything and finished in 4th place—so close to breaking that sweep! And shoutout to Romania, who finished an incredible 5th.

🎿 Biathlon Relay: The French Revolution

The 4x7.5km relay is always a slugfest between France and Norway.

  • The Result: The French shot like snipers and skied like the wind to take the Gold. 🥈 Norway took Silver, and 🥉 Sweden grabbed the Bronze. Team USA put in a very respectable showing, finishing 11th.

⛸️ Women’s Short Program: Grace, Grit, and a Snack Machine

This was the event of the tournament so far. The artistry was off the charts, but the "sideline" drama stole the show.

  • ⭐ The "Smooth Criminal": Adeliya Petrosian (Independent Athlete) skated a Michael Jackson medley that was the coolest thing on the ice. Her coach—the legendary but controversial Eteri Tutberidze—wasn't allowed on the floor and was spotted watching from by a snack machine. Adeliya held the lead for most of the night!

  • ⭐ The Foxy Favorite: Sofia Samodelkina (Kazakhstan) was an absolute crowd favorite, dressed in a fox costume and skating to high-energy folk music.

  • ⭐ Heart-Wrenchers: Ekaterina Kurakova (Poland) skated a beautiful, emotional routine that had the whole arena quiet, and Julia Sauter (Romania) was just too cute for words.

  • ⭐ Belgian Beauty: Both Loena Hendrickx and Nina Pinzarrone put in gorgeous, "pretty" routines that showed pure class.

  • Team Japan:  All three skaters were phenomenal!  They are the ones to watch!

 Team USA Breakout:

  • Alysa Liu: Pure "Grace on Ice." She nailed her jumps and sits in 3rd place!

  • Isabeau Levito: Channeled her inner Sophia Loren for a medley that looked like "Old Hollywood" in Milan. She’s in 7th.

  • Amber Glenn: The heartbreak of the night. She did a double instead of her planned triple on the final jump—earning zero points for that element. Madonna’s video message (YEAH...She sent one to Amber!) couldn't save that mistake, and she’s sitting in 12th.

📺 Tonight on NBC Primetime (8:00 PM ET)

  • ⛸️ The Blade Angels: Catch the full routines from Alysa Liu and the Sophia Loren-inspired Isabeau Levito.

  • 🚀 The Helicopter: See Mac Forehand’s insane Silver-medal Big Air jumps.

  • 🛷 The German Wall: Highlights from the bobsled sweep and Del Duca's 4th place finish.
