How do you get your equipment to the Olympics?!?!
One of the downsides to being an Olympian is that you have to get your stuff to the Olympics. For some, that's easy! I mean, packing a leotard or a swim suit doesn't take that much effort. When you are an Olympian in Sailing, Pole Vaulting, Archery, any of the Shooting Events, or Equestrian, this takes on a whole new meaning!
The Washington Post has a nice story on this. Here's a Link: WP_Link
Archery and Shooting....yeah, that's obvious but thinking about transporting your Rhythmic Gymnastics clubs, hoops, balls, and rope....yeah...I didn't think about that! How about the 17 foot poles of Pole Jumping! Now some get help with "boosters" and such but most athletes are responsible for their own equipment transport.
Special thanks to Lisa Ealley for sending me a link (and the text) to the story. I would love to post the text of the story here, but I don't have permission for such a thing on my little blog so I hope you can get to the link.
